Both the Fiesta SportTrophy and SportChallenge 2011 Champions were in action at Carlisle Airfield on Friday as the pairing received their prize of a test in the Ford Fiesta RS WRC and Ford Fiesta S2000 respectively.

FST Champion, Osian Pryce, and FSC Champion, Jack Rowe, were both been competing in Cumbria this week; Pryce as part of the Pirelli Star Driver Shootout near Penrith and Rowe as part of the sixth annual Fiesta SportTrophy International Shootout at M-Sport Ltd.

Whereas Pryce lost out to Finland’s Jukka Korhonen at the BRC prize giving ceremony on Saturday, Rowe was elated to make it into the top 6 at the FST Shootout – which was eventually won by Norway’s Steve Røkland – earning the FSC Champion a one-to-one interview with M-Sport Managing Director and Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team Principal, Malcolm Wilson OBE, and Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team star, Jari-Matti Latvala.

Friday’s test saw Pryce drive one of M-Sport’s Ford Fiesta RS WRCs with expert tuition from the World Rally Championship’s most recent winner, Latvala. Elsewhere, Rowe tested the Ford S2000 with one-to-one guidance from M-Sport Stobart Ford World Rally Team’s Matthew Wilson.

Also in attendance, the 2011 FST Ireland Champion, Declan Leonard, completed a successful test with Wilson in the Fiesta S2000 as part of his prize for finishing ahead of the field in IFiesta reland’s regional edition of the one-make Fiesta series.

Speaking after the test, Pryce said:

“I thought the WRC car would be hard to drive but it is surprisingly effortless! The more runs I did the more confidence I got and you can really push the limits. The car has so much power so anything that would have been a big moment for me in the [Ford Fiesta GpN] ST or even the [Ford Fiesta] R2, is easier to get out of. Jari-Matti [Latvala] was a great teacher too with loads of great tips and good advice.”

Both UK Champions attended the BRC prize giving ceremony on Saturday where they received their FST and FSC trophies before finalising their rallying plans for 2012.
