M-Sport, the team behind Ford’s FIA World Rally Championship programme, is delighted to announce registrations are now open for the Fiesta SportTrophy UK (FST UK) and Fiesta SportChallenge (FSC).
Both championships will continue to be a platform for up-and-coming drivers eager to prove themselves in a single make series along with experienced and amateur drivers of all ages battling for the title of Fiesta SportTrophy UK 2012 Champion or Fiesta SportChallenge 2012 Champion.
The MSA British Rally Championship (BRC) continues to follow a series of mixed surface events including some of the greatest events that the UK and Ireland have to offer. The BRC will kick off the year Dorset with the Rallye Sunseeker, on which both championships will attend. The FSC will then make the long journey to Cumbria for the Malcolm Wilson Rally, starting at M-Sport’s HQ near Cockermouth. The best six scores out of eight in the FSC will count towards the final championship standings; the FST on the other hand counts five out of six points scoring opportunities.
Prize funds per round for both the FST and FSC will be £500 for first, £300 for second and £200 for third places.
The end-of-season prize for the FST champion will be a test in a Ford Fiesta RS WRC with instruction from a WRC driver, while the FSC will have an exclusive chance to test a Ford Fiesta R2, Ford Fiesta S2000 and have a passenger ride in the Ford Fiesta RS WRC.
Eligible cars for the BRC, FSC and BRC Challenge (BRCC) in 2012 include the Ford Fiesta ST and the new Ford Fiesta R1 and MS1. Debuting in 2012 is the Fiesta R1, which will launch in to action as a serious challenger within the MSA British Junior Rally Championship. Built to current FIA R1 regulations and aimed at those just starting out on their rallying career, the Ford Fiesta R1 forms the first step on the Ford’s ‘Ladder of Opportunity’ which allows competitors to graduate, with Ford, from national level right through to the top echelons of the WRC.
Having a strong pedigree behind it in the form of the Ford Fiesta R2, which is currently running successfully on the world stage in the WRC Academy, the R1 is designed to use parts also found on the Fiesta R2, allowing competitors to progress from the Fiesta R1 to the Fiesta R2, via the new Fiesta MS1, a Fiesta R1 with optional Fiesta R2 upgrades.
M-Sport have now developed and produced a comprehensive series of options for young drivers, offering more opportunities for them to climb Ford’s ‘Ladder of Opportunity’.
Driver and co-driver registration for the FST are included in the BRC registration fee of £662.50 + VAT payable before 20 January; after 20 January, the fee will rise to £766.66 + VAT. The registration fee will enable teams to score points in both series, to enter six championship rounds, the provision for an onboard camera licence and eligibility for any FST prizes. You can find the relevant registration documents at: http://www.rallybrc.co.uk/index.php/competitors/documents.
Driver and co-driver registration for the FSC includes the entry fee for the BRCC. The fee stays at £275 + VAT and this will entitle teams to scores points in both the FSC and BRC Challenge, to enter all seven events and be eligible for all prizes. Competitors can register at: http://www.fiestasporttrophy.co.uk/index.php/competitors/competitor-registration.
M-Sport will continue to supply on-event parts and technical support for both the one-make championships, which will be administered from the Dovenby Hall Headquarters.
